At Lloyd Lake Lodge, our waters are bountiful—and so is our kitchen! Our team works to deliver you a culinary experience that rivals the wild natural beauty that surrounds us.
With our 3-day culinary package, Chef Derrick offers a unique, locally-inspired experience while sharing what he’s learned from creating memorable dining experiences in the remote Canadian wilderness. With a maximum of 6 people, it’s hands-on and personable all the way through.

Itinerary
Day 1
- Arrive at 4 pm
- Enjoy 3-course dinner at 6:00 PM
Day 2
- Breakfast at 7:30 AM
- Fishing from 8:00 – 11:30 AM
- Cleaning the catch from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Cooking class at 12:00 PM (cooking and eating the morning’s catch)
- Leisure time from 2:00 – 5:00 PM (fishing/resting/sightseeing/swimming/wildlife watching/berry picking)
- Cooking class at 5:00 PM, followed by eating your creation for dinner
- Leisure time at 7:00 PM (fishing/resting/sightseeing/swimming/wildlife watching/berry picking)
Day 3
- Breakfast at 7:30 AM
- Fishing from 8:00 – 11:30 AM
- Cleaning the catch from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Cooking class at 12:00 PM (cooking and eating the morning’s catch)
- Leisure time from 2:00 – 5:00 PM (fishing/resting/sightseeing/swimming/wildlife watching/berry picking)
- Cooking class at 5:00 PM, followed by eating your creation for dinner
- Leisure time at 7:00 PM (fishing/resting/sightseeing/swimming/wildlife watching/berry picking)
Day 4
- Breakfast at 7:30 AM (or later if the group agrees)
- Leisure time 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Lunch served at 12:30 PM
- Depart Lloyd Lake to Fort McMurray at 3:30 PM
Lesson examples
Lunch:
How to prepare the morning’s catch. First we learn about how to clean the fish you caught. They all have different bone structures, which means cleaning a walleye is not the same as cleaning a northern pike or a lake trout. Next we choose how to cook the fish: for example, we might prepare it the traditional Indigineous way one day, and the next day choose a cooking method that highlights the special qualities of the specific fish species.
Dinner:
Smoked Lake trout chowder/Freshwater clam sauce with fresh pasta/Luscious lemon curd
Upscale Hot wings made with homemade hot sauce/Walleye salt bake/ Wild blueberry panna cotta
